Emerald Hearth began as a small shared studio where makers compared reliable formulas and refined patient teaching. What started with five curious friends testing cold-process batches on weekends grew into a dedicated school that welcomes learners from every background.
Our mission
We make soap education practical, sensory, and responsibly paced. Every course at Emerald Hearth is designed so students leave with confidence, not just notes. We believe the best soap makers learn through repetition, observation, and a deep respect for materials.

Studio Educator
Rowan has twelve years of professional soap making experience and leads every foundational course. Their teaching focuses on building muscle memory through repeated, calm practice.

Scent & Formulation Mentor
Mira spent eight years developing fragrance blends for natural skincare brands before joining Emerald Hearth. She guides advanced students through essential oil chemistry and custom scent creation.

Learner Experience Lead
Ellis designs the studio’s learning journey, from welcome packets to post-course support. They ensure every student feels seen, supported, and prepared for independent making.

How we teach
Preparation & safety
Students begin with a full safety briefing, equipment review, and workspace setup. We practice lye calculations and protective routines until they become second nature.
Formulation & mixing
We move to live batch making with guided measurement and temperature control. Students learn to read the trace and understand when to add color and fragrance.
Design & pouring
Swirls, layers, and texture techniques are practiced in small groups. Each student pours at least three unique designs with instructor feedback.
Cure planning & finishing
Students create personal cure schedules and learn proper storage, labeling, and packaging. We end with a final review of their first complete bar collection.
